Dear Friends and Patrons:
In June 2010 Northern Lights Playhouse will be celebrating its thirty-fourth anniversary of
providing exceptional entertainment in our community! We are extremely excited to continue the
tradition of providing the very best in live theatrical entertainment in northern Wisconsin for many
years to come!
As you may or may not know, a fire destroyed the Playhouse actor’s residence at the end of the
2008 season. With the current banking crisis, Associated Bank decided it was in their best
interest to seize the insurance monies and apply it to the mortgage, leaving us with limited
options for housing.
Because of limited housing, we were unable to hire the usual number of actors needed to
produce musicals for the 2009 season. The response to this decision was unfavorable. You
have spoken, and we have listened! We are committed to “Raising the Roof” for the 2010
season. We are set to produce four musicals, a popular drama, a farce, and a Children’s
Musical this summer. This season is going to be one of the largest seasons to have been
produced by us in many years, with no show having a cast smaller than 10. We have responded
to your requests, and now hope that you, in turn, will respond to ours. We need your help to
raise the funds that will be required to house the mammoth company that our 2010 season will
require!
In our inspiring “RAISING THE ROOF!!!” capital campaign drive, you not only help us provide
housing that we must have to do musicals, but you also become part of the Playhouse legacy.
Your name, or the name of a loved one, can be part of this housing with your donation. A
Donation of $3,000 or more will earn you a plaque, with your name on it, placed on a bedroom
door for all to see. And, should you be feeling extraordinarily generous, the naming rights of the
building could be yours. Please take a look at the form below and consider making a donation in
any amount to our “RAISING THE ROOF!!!” campaign.
We understand that the decision to make a donation of this magnitude is not one that is made
lightly. We encourage you to take some time to talk it over with your family, and think seriously
about what you are able to give, however, time is of the essence in this situation. The 2010
Company will be arriving on May 20 to begin the rehearsal process for, what is sure to be, our
best season in years. We must get this project started directly! Remember, every little bit helps,
and no donation is too small. Your donation, no matter the amount, will not only help bring
musicals back and provide the extra housing to do so, but will also ensure that Northern Lights
Playhouse will continue to be a top destination and a major force in our local economy. The arts
are important to any thriving community. If you have any questions, feel free to call me at (715)
356-7173 EXT 955. Please continue to help Northern Lights Playhouse and be a part of
“RAISING THE ROOF!!!”
KEEP THE STARS SHINING!!! Through your generous monetary donations, we are able continue providing you with quality professional theatre! Please send your Donations to:

"The arts aren't just a nice thing to do if you have a little time. It's not just a hobby, although it can be a very good hobby. It shouldn't be something you do just because you can afford it. We believe strongly that the arts aren't somehow an ‘extra’ part of our national life, but instead we feel that the arts are at the heart of our national life.” - First Lady, Michelle Obama
